5 Facts I Bet You Didn’t Know About The Queen
Busy Lizzie @
In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, this weekend we celebrate 70 years of the Royal Highness in reign! We’re quite similar, our Liz and me. We both like the finer things, we love a family get together and we even share a name! As proud British manufacturers, we love any reason to celebrate our wonderful country’s history - and it just so happens Queen Liz happens to be at the centre of it all! But amongst all the royalty, she’s just like you and me, really! Here’s some fun facts I bet you didn’t know about Her Majesty…
1. She’s dog mad! (All the best Lizzies are)
Alright, maybe you did know this one! She’s always photographed with her beloved corgis, and even trains them herself! But I bet you didn’t know she's owned 30 corgis in her lifetime and even bred the first ever “dorgi” - a corgi mixed with a dachshund. How cute!
2. Her hobbies include horse riding, pigeon racing and football
I can ride a horse, but I’ve never raced a pigeon! And I’m not too interested in football - sorry Liz! But did you know the Queen is an Arsenal supporter? I can’t believe she doesn’t support good old Huddersfield town!
3. She can speak fluent French
Now this is something we definitely don’t have in common. Although I can order a rosé in French! That counts, right? Ooh la la!
4. She has a very unusual wakeup call
Her Majesty kicks off her morning with a wake up call from a bagpiper outside her window at 9am - imagine the racket! No thanks, I think I’ll settle for a good old fashioned alarm clock…
5. She starred in a skit alongside James Bond!
Ooh, I can’t say I’m not jealous! Queen Lizzie showed her funny side during the 2012 London Olympics when she appeared in a cameo alongside Daniel Craig. She was so dedicated to the role, she didn’t even tell her family about it! That’s something I certainly can’t relate to - if I were ever to meet Daniel Craig, I don't think I’d be able to shut up about it!
Enjoy the extra long bank holiday courtesy of lovely Lizzie (not me, the other one!)! Although I'm hoping I don't end up dressed as a grape like at the silver Jubilee, that's maybe a story for another time...
