I’ve been keeping a secret from you all for some time now but I’m so pleased that I can finally talk about it - we’ve launched new washable rugs! The wonderful team at Hug at Home have been working extra hard behind the scenes to bring you these gorgeous new products and I could not be more excited to tell you all about our new Hug Rug Eco-Washable rug range. Let’s dive right in.
How it all started…
Four years ago, I turned to my husband Ady and told him I wanted Hug Rug to launch its own collection of rugs that had all been produced here in the UK. But these couldn’t be any old rugs of course! They had to be British manufactured, eco-friendly and machine washable to match our existing range of lovely Hug Rugs, which I’m sure you’re all familiar with (if not, where have you been?)
Ady jumped straight to the challenge, working to find the best sustainable materials and the right manufacturing methods so we could produce all of our rugs in our wonderful mill in Huddersfield. I’m so pleased that after four years of hard work, we are finally there! We’ve taken all of the wonderful benefits from our Hug Rugs and turned them into something bigger, better and bolder - our fabulous new Hug Rug Eco-Washable rug collection!
Just like our amazing Hug Rug washable mats and runners, the Eco-Washable rug range is British made and crafted from recycled and sustainable materials, including natural rubber and recycled PET. We wouldn’t have it any other way at Hug at Home.
Why our eco-washable rugs are the best
Cleaning a large area rug can sometimes feel like a workout and no one enjoys doing it, (I know I certainly don’t!) so we wanted to create a washable rug solution that was super easy to clean and wasn’t a hassle to maintain. That’s why our Eco-Washable rugs come as a simple, one piece solution, meaning all you have to do is pop the entire thing in the wash, leave it to dry outside and then roll it back out in one go - easy!
Our Eco-Washable rugs come in 4 sizes, from a hallway runner all the way up to an extra large area rug, and in lots of gorgeous styles and colours. This makes this collection incredibly versatile and they can be used in so many different areas across the home.
Something that was super important to us was making sure that our products were made as sustainably as possible and were British made. That’s why all of our Eco-Washable rugs are made right here in our mill in Yorkshire.
Why you need a washable rug
Who doesn’t want their home to be stylish and easy to maintain? I sure do! With a washable rug, you get the best of both worlds. They’re perfect for busy households that are bustling with kids and four legged friends or just for handling everyday life as these rugs are built to withstand anything that’s thrown at them.
Sticky hands, muddy pawprints and the inevitable spilt drink no longer become an issue with a washable rug! Whenever there’s a mishap in your home, you can simply pop your rug in the wash and it’ll come out as good as new, helping to keep your home clean and fresh.
How to wash our eco-washable rugs
It couldn’t be easier to wash our eco-washable rugs. If you’ve had a bit of a nasty spill, grab some paper towels and try to soak up the liquid as soon as you can to prevent your lovely rug from staining.
Then all you need to do is give your rug a quick shake or vacuum to get rid of any loose dirt and debris (we don’t want this clogging up our washing machines!) and then pop it on a quick 30ºC wash. Hang your rug out or lie it down flat in the glorious sunshine to dry and it’ll be back on your floors looking fabulous in no time.
How to choose the perfect washable rug
With so many gorgeous designs to choose from it can be a struggle to find the perfect washable rug for your home, it took me ages to decide which one I wanted!
The best way to choose is to decide where you’re putting your rug. Is it going in your bedroom, your living room, your hallway or even your kitchen? This will help you decide which size you need and then all there’s left to do is choose your design (the hardest part!).
