Our Wonderful Charity Partners
Busy Lizzie @
This week, I’m taking the focus away from rugs and putting it on our fabulous charity partners! I can’t begin to express how full of pride I am when it comes to supporting not just one, but a whopping seven amazing charities here at Hug at Home! These causes I’m going to highlight today are truly remarkable organisations and I’m absolutely thrilled to be shining a spotlight on them.
A few years ago, we decided we wanted to do our bit for charity and give something back, but the question was how were we going to do this? The answer however was obvious (at least to us!), with our amazing Hug Rugs!
Working with these charities has been such a heartwarming and rewarding journey and I love seeing the positive impact our support brings to our wonderful partners. I’ve been very lucky to spend time with some of these fantastic organisations and have met some truly amazing and inspiring individuals along the way. So today I’m taking the opportunity to share all of these remarkable organisations and the incredible work that they do with you all.
Battersea
Our most recent charity partner, Battersea, has a heartfelt mission - working to find animals in need of a new, loving home. I’m incredibly passionate about the work that Battersea does and it makes me so happy to know that all those dogs and cats out there are finding love in their forever homes. If it were up to me I’d adopt them all myself, I’m sure Bob would love having some furry brothers and sisters around the house! Although, I have a sneaky feeling Ady might not be so keen…
Here’s the exciting part though. We couldn’t support Battersea without creating a super cute canine-themed Hug Rug to raise funds for them! Featuring an adorable long-haired dog, our Meet You Charity Mat has been given the stamp of approval by Battersea themselves. Even better, 10% of the profit from sales (excl VAT and P&P) goes directly to this wonderful charity. So not only do you receive a gorgeous mat for your home, but you also get to contribute to a pawsitively great cause! (sorry, I couldn’t resist).
Sunshine Sunflower Foundation
Meet the Sunshine Sunflower Foundation, a charity that is much closer to home, with it being based only down the road in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Their mission is to provide young people aged 16-24 who have experienced difficult upbringings to develop skills through horticultural activity and alongside that, it aims to provide them with an opportunity to get involved in projects with those of a similar age and give them a sense of belonging too!
Now, let me share my excitement about working with this organisation. As a keen gardener myself, you can imagine my excitement when I got the opportunity to collaborate with this incredible charity! Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of spending a splendid day out and about with some of the bright young people the foundation works with to find out how the support is benefiting them. It was such a heartwarming experience and I can’t wait to visit them again soon.
To support the Sunshine Sunflower Foundation and raise funds for their great cause, we just had to create a bright, floral-themed Hug Rug. And that’s how the Sunflower 1 Hug Rug was born! It’s a fun, colourful addition to your front door, hallway or kitchen, plus 10% of all sales (excl VAT and P&P) goes to supporting this fabulous foundation! What’s not to like?
Rainbow Trust
I’m thrilled to share this next charity with you all and it is such a pleasure to support them due to the incredible, life-changing work that they do. The Rainbow Trust provides emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness, which I’m sure you’ll agree with me is a fantastic cause!
But wait, there’s more heartwarming news to share! Since we launched our dazzling Bright Spot 1 Charity Mat and Rainbow 2 Charity Mat, we’ve been donating 10% of the sales (excl VAT and P&P) to this fantastic charitable body. We’ve pledged to contribute a minimum of £2,500 per year to support the Rainbow Trust as well.
In other exciting news, our very own Charles is gearing up to take on a huuuuge challenge next year. He’s running the London Marathon, all in aid of the Rainbow Trust! Now friends, if you would like to support Charles on his fundraising journey, please consider donating to his page. Every penny counts and your support would mean the world!
And more!
Let me share our last set of fabulous charity partners who are all united by a common cause - nature! We love everything nature and environment-related here at Hug at Home and supporting various environmental charities is a great way for us to play our part in protecting our planet.
Over the years we have been helping to save the bees by being busy bees ourselves, working with the brilliant Bumblebee Conservation Trust. And when it comes to doing our bit to secure the future of our oceans, we’ve taken pride in supporting the terrific Ocean Conservation Trust.
Now, who hasn't heard of the RSPB? If you’re one the few who haven't, please do yourself a favour check them out, they’re truly fantastic! We’re thrilled to play our part in the conservation work they do to protect our precious wildlife with our lovely Hug Rugs. And let’s not forget our partnership with the RHS, the UK’s leading garden charity. This partnership is a match made in heaven for Hug at Home as we’re all garden lovers here!
We’ve taken inspiration from gardens, wildlife and more to create a lovely range of nature-themed Hug Rugs, some of which are even approved by the RHS and make the perfect addition to your front door during the autumn months and beyond!
As you can see, each and every one of the wonderful charities we support are a worthy cause and I’d love for you to get involved with supporting these extraordinary causes in any way you can.
There are so many ways to play your part, whether it’s buying one of our charity Hug Rug designs, donating directly to the charities themselves or lending a helping hand through volunteering. Every little helps and together we can make a big difference!
