Busy Lizzie’s Festive Family Gift Guide

Busy Lizzie @

Is it that time already? It’s safe to say this year has flown by! Now, it's not like me to be early and organised (they don’t call me Busy Lizzie for nothing!) but this year I’m all wrapped and ready, if you can believe it! I’ve decided to let you in on my top secret Christmas gift guide, so you can spend less time frantically shopping amongst the crowds on Christmas Eve and more time snuggling up with a hot chocolate and a mince pie in front of a classic Christmas film - that’s what Christmas is all about, after all!

For The Mum Who Loves the Finer Things

Luxury Wool Throws - Hug at Home

If there’s anyone who deserves to be spoiled rotten at Christmas, it’s Mum (hint, hint, Ellie and Joe!) so why not treat the special woman in your life to a luxurious fabric treat? Keep her cosy this Winter with a cashmere jumper, faux fur slippers or perhaps a brand new luxury wool throw. Hand crafted from soft lambswool and available in 4 neutral colourways, our throws are so snug, your Mum will be wrapped up in them all Winter! I’ve got Ice & Sandstone for my Mum (oops, spoiler alert... sorry Mum!), I can just picture that gorgeous colour in her living room right now! These British made throws are the perfect gift for anyone who loves a bit of luxury in their life (who doesn’t?). I could go on and on about how fabulous they are, but there’s a whole other blog post dedicated to that! Go on, have a read.

For The Gardening Mad Dad
Hug Rug - Hug at Home

What to get for the Dad who hates gifts? Easy peasy, just find out what he loves! Plenty of Dads love pottering about in their garden and trailing muck all through the house when they’re finished (to Mum’s delight), so why not treat the gardener in your life to one of our brand new Hug Rugs? The Garden Tools design would be perfect for him as it features all of the things he loves - gardening tools! Pair it with a bottle of Dad’s favourite whiskey or chosen box of treats and you’re good to go. This gift giving malarkey is easy!

For The Eco Obsessed Sister

Hug Bamboo - Hug at Home

It’s time to give your eco-obsessed sister the ultimate treat she deserves! What better way to show your appreciation than with a super indulgent pamper hamper? You can even be proper eco-friendly and reuse that big wicker basket you won in a raffle years ago! Fill it with a bamboo bath mat, bamboo towels and a cosy, organic cotton dressing gown, before throwing in some eco-friendly bubble bath, bath bombs and other lovely smelling goodies and... voila! You’ve got yourself the perfect sustainable pamper hamper! Ooh, I might have to try one of those myself...

For The Outdoorsy Brother With Dogs

Hug Rug Sense - Hug at Home

What do you buy the brother who spends his weekends out in the countryside walking his dogs? He’s probably not going to appreciate a luxury wool throw or a pamper hamper as much as your Mum or your sister, but he’ll definitely appreciate a present that will keep his precious car clean! A car boot protector will come in handy in wetter weather when the dogs just can’t help rolling around in those muddy puddles. Now he can enjoy his outdoor adventures (I’ll stick to my indoor ones) without worrying about mucky paw prints or nasty scratches! As far as practical presents go, I think I’ve nailed that one!

For The Stylish Daughter
Origin Rugs - Hug at Home

What to buy the super stylish daughter who seems to have everything already? Why not hop on the Sheepskin trend! You could buy her a cosy Sheepskin coat, a pair of Sheepskin slippers or a 100% genuine Sheepskin rug. Double (or triple) it as a trendy chair cover, comfy bench seat or a cosy throw - so versatile! I know I speak for many Mums when I say I always seem to be way off when choosing clothes or makeup as a gift, but I usually don’t go wrong with gorgeous home furnishings. What can I say, I’m an interior goddess!

For The Talented Baker
Hug Kitchen - Hug at Home

With the Great British Bake Off finally over, the star baker in your family will be getting ready to put their skills and knowledge to the test in the form of some yummy Christmas goodies. Say a big thank you to them by gifting them a brand new set of kitchen accessories. You never know, they may repay the favour with a delicious batch of treats!

Hopefully I’ve given you some ideas to nudge you in the right direction, after all, Christmas gifts are a tricky one! But if you’re still really not sure what to choose… everyone loves a gift card!

Happy shopping!
