Rooms In Your Home That Need A Rug
Busy Lizzie @
Have you ever felt like your living space is missing something? I can guarantee that what you need is a good rug! A rug can instantly transform a room from “boring” to “fabulous”, especially now that cosy season is here. They can create a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes your home feel like a snug retreat from the chilly weather outside.
Are you now left wondering, do I need a rug and where should I put one? Well let me tell you!
Living Room Rugs
The living room is the social hub of your home, where you entertain guests or curl up on the sofa for a good TV binge, so it deserves a bit of extra love. A rug is the perfect way to pull the room together and to define your seating area. Plus you’ll be giving your feet a nice soft treat to walk across when you get up to grab a cuppa!
My top tip: the bigger the better! The larger the rug, the more cosy, warm and luxurious your space will feel. Why not consider a plush wool option for that extra touch of comfort?
Or, if your household is anything like mine - constantly buzzing with people, pets and little ones - then you’ll want something more practical. That’s where a washable rug comes in handy. Did you know we’ve just launched a new collection of washable rugs? That’s right, we’ve taken our lovely Sense Hug Rug range and made them bigger. Not only are they super soft and cosy but also made from recycled materials and machine washable at 30ºC, making them ideal for busy homes.
Kitchen Runner Rugs
You might be thinking, “Lizzie, a rug in the kitchen?” but hear me out! A kitchen runner can really elevate your space while offering a whole host of practical benefits. For your kitchen, you’re going to want something washable and absorbent (perfect for all those inevitable spills and splashes) and, of course, I’m going to suggest a Hug Rug runner!
Our new washable Sense rugs include not just area rugs but washable runners too that are ideal for kitchen floors. They’re great for providing a soft and comfy treat for feet on those chilly mornings! And if you want something a bit more fun and vibrant, you can always pop down a Hug Rug runner to add some personality to your kitchen.Hallway Runner Rugs
The hallway is often the first area of your home guests step into, so it’s important to make a good first impression while keeping pesky dirt and debris at bay! Typically hallways are long and narrow, so a runner rug is the way forward for this space. A washable runner is especially the perfect choice for such a busy area, making sure that your floors stay clean and stylish. If you need some inspiration then our lovely Hug Rug eco-washable range has something for everyone.
If you’re after something a bit more soft and cosy for your tootsies, then a wool runner rug is the way to go. It’ll add that warmth and comfort to your hallway that you’re looking for while still being a trendy and practical choice.
Bedroom Rugs
If there’s one place in your home that needs a rug, it’s the bedroom. When you wake up on those frosty mornings, you want to swing your feet out of bed and land on something cosy and plush, not icy cold wood! A lovely, soft rug can make all the different, providing a delightful cushion underfoot as you start your day. My top tip: use a sheepskin rug next to your bed. They add a touch of luxury to your bedroom whilst giving your feet a warm hug every morning - what’s not to love!
Dining Room Rugs
Lastly, we can’t forget about the dining room. A rug isn’t just a stylish addition to a dining room, it’s a practical necessity, especially for those with kids! That’s why when you’re purchasing a rug for this space, it should always be machine washable. A washable rug is going to protect your floor from any accidental spills, annoying crumbs or flying food, helping to keep things easy to clean. You’ll be able to eat in peace knowing that your rug can handle anything that’s thrown at it.
I hope this handy guide has helped you decide where you’ll be decorating with a new rug and which style to go for. I wish I could join you all in shopping for a new rug, but sadly Ady has put me on another rug buying ban (apparently we have too many but I disagree!)
